Yes Disability Resource Centre

The YES Disability Resource Centre, opened just 3 years ago in Albany, on the North Shore of Auckland, was established to bring together a number of organisations within the disability sector under one roof.

A 'one stop shop' where these organisations can network together sharing ideas and encouragement with each other, and where information, advice and support can be given to the disabled and their caregivers.

The YES Centre was a dream of the Takapuna North Rotary Club back in 2002 when many of the disability organisations were spread across the North Shore and the disabled and their caregivers had to travel long distances to get assistance. The Rotary Clubs of the North Shore banded together, formed a trust, and after a lot of hard work and extensive negotiations under the direction of the trustees, and with generous support from many organisations and individuals, the land was sourced and the magnificent building that is now the YES Centre was constructed. The dream has become a reality.

WBB Involvement

WBB have been involved in the YES Centre right from the inception. Barry Clausen, then a member of the Takapuna North Rotary Club, came up with the original concept, and Lewis Beer and his team have been involved since the Centre became operational with the financial matters. WBB prepare the annual financial accounts and have set up the financial management reporting structure to ensure the trustees are constantly aware of the updated financial position so they are able to make informed decisions and to eliminate the possibility of any 'nasty' surprises.

WBB have also helped the Centre to obtain a strong financial base, and secure access to long term Bank funding at favourable rates, by assisting them to purchase the land. The Centre now owns both the land and buildings outright.

Working with WBB

The YES Centre has been extremely fortunate to have the services of WBB Chartered Accountants Ltd, and Lewis Beer in particular.

Our Centre is a unique concept in that it brings together, under one roof, a number of organisations within the disability sector thereby providing an opportunity for networking and service to the community. The dollars involved have been substantial and it has been essential that we have had strong and knowledgeable financial advisors to balance the enthusiasm of those involved with the concept from the start. WBB have performed their role admirably and have devoted countless hours to firstly monitoring the building project and then being involved in creating a viable organisation. WBB attend the monthly Trustee meetings and their advice is often sought.

We hope that our association with WBB will endure for many years to come.
